Michigan tribe inks Golden Nugget iGaming alliance
American iGaming operator Golden Nugget Online Gaming Incorporated is reportedly set to enter the coming online casino and sportsbetting market of Michigan via a deal with the state’s federally-recognized Keweenaw Bay Indian Community.
According to a Thursday report from PlayMichigan.com, the Houston-headquartered firm is already active in the iGaming scenes of Pennsylvania and New Jersey via locally-approved versions of its GoldenNuggetCasino.com domain and is to now apply to the Michigan Gaming Control Board for a similar license covering ‘The Wolverine State.’

PlayMichigan.com reported that the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community is currently responsible for Ojibwa Casino-branded venues in the small northern Michigan communities of Baraga and Marquette and believes that the new iGaming enterprise may be able to go live from as soon as the end of October offering punters a variety of online casino and sportsbetting entertainment.
Initial inertia:
Although Michigan legalized sportsbetting and online casino gambling late last year, PlayMichigan.com reported that local officials have yet to award the Midwestern state’s inaugural iGaming license.
